Fresh Starts and New Beginnings

Listen to the birds singing outside. Their songs seem to echo the resounding feeling that things are moving forward, awakening, and starting a new. It’s finally spring! And much like the giraffes we watch on our Facebook Live Zoo chats, our kids are ready to get out and run! Now more than ever as we navigate our “new normal” moms and families alike are ready to make a fresh start for spring.

The beautiful thing about fresh starts is you don’t really have to do what’s been done before, and lately that very thing is a theme around the world as well as our own home.

While navigating our social distance we can dwell on the canceled events and changes or choose to enjoy Easter and spring as a new and amazing family celebration and make new traditions within our limits that we’ll all remember.

So I’ve calculated my Target and Amazon deliveries, the bunny has a stash ready for the big day, and part of our daily fun can now be doing an Easter or springtime craft, outdoor game, or project to get ready and look forward to!

This year we started by encouraging our community via social media, to decorate large paper Easter Eggs and display them in front windows or areas visible to the road. We had lots of fun making our eggs double sided to enjoy inside and out. With the help of construction paper, wrapping paper, markers, stickers and double sided tape we even added spring time flowers and of course bunnies to our window display. I look forward to posting our eggs #EggcitedToBeHome and to driving around town to do an Egg-citing Egg Hunt like never before, and I sure hope families in the area do too! We may even end up picking up take out dinner or ice cream treats from an area favorite or two!

We are also crafting up plastic eggs with paint and glitter glue to hide in the yard.  And we will not miss out on the doing the traditional hard boiled eggs died in the classic Paaz colors.

I’ve also enlisted the kids to clean the house! But yes we made it a game and afterwards we cranked a few classic Easter tunes and decorated the family room and playroom with bunnies and flowers as we’ve done before.

I know many families travel or gather with large events to celebrate this time of year. I’m sure my family is going to miss getting to celebrate with our annual outdoor egg hunt at my uncles house and seeing extended family too. Maybe we took these gifts for granted but I know they will return, and in the mean time hold your precious families close moms, be brave and make new traditions that they will remember as a warm spring of backyard treasure hunts and hide and seek with you!
