You are their safe place

Your hands are rough,
Your shirt is torn
A to do list runs through your brain.

Your headache soars,
And you’re sleep deprived,
Sometimes their actions may drive you insane.

You might want to yell,
You are ready to snap,
Wondering don’t they see what they’re doing to me!

They are free to be silly,
Sometimes not follow the rules,
Because with you they can just be.

You are they’re safe place,
To just let go,
Be it silly or softy or bad.

You are they’re safe place,
They don’t sensor around you,
So please mom be honored not mad.

It’s so very hard to remember in the moment,  but your kids love you so much they often keep all this energy and ideas in check until they are finally with mom... safe... and that’s when it all comes out. Be strong, be brave.
