Donut Cake? and other Fall Favorites

I love baking and maybe that's why my kids do too. I love baking with them. Granted, sometimes they do more tasting or chocolate chip sampling than anything else, but for this project my littlest got in the game. Her favorite part of they day was “mixing the cake together,” and she has since called it "her cake" being very proud of one of her first creations.

Baking is also super fun, because the creations are sweet, yummy and delicious! Naturally our first fall bake of the season was one I discovered just last year while cruising Pintrest,  Apple Cider Donut Cake A Betty Crocker recipe, it has minimal ingredients and maximum taste, bonus real apples inside! We love to grab home made Apple Cider Donuts on our annual visits to the pumpkin farms in the area, so when this recipe promised a similar taste right at home, we all got on board.

Used basic yellow cake mix, Apple Cider from Target, and two Granny Smith Apples (although my helper did need to taste some) chopped up in a small food processor. Bundt cake pan for about 45 minutes and then cool.  Add melted butter then cinnamon and sugar outside to complete the dish!

I even made this recipe in a silicone donut pan last year, dunking them in the cinnamon sugar mix, for teacher gifts that were out of this world!

After taking in our first fall sweet treat favorite, we definitely felt like watching a few classics, like Room on the Broom and Curious George Halloween Boo Fest!  Not too bad for a weeknight!

And with more cake leftover, we are set to enjoy some delicious treats all weekend too!
